Season-Best Scoring Effort Lifts Crusaders to Win at Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team finished with a season high in goals scored as the Crusaders defeated Lees-McRae 27-2 Saturday afternoon at Tate Field.

Haley Adamo matched her career-high in scoring with four goals on the day while four Crusaders finished with hat tricks, including the first for Scout Chaffin. The 27 goals is the most scored by the Abbey since it scored 28 in a win over Erskine on February 26, 2022.

Belmont Abbey improves to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in Conference Carolinas. Lees-McRae is now 0-7 overall, 0-4 in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Belmont Abbey jumped out to a fast start with four goals in the first 3:17 of the contest.
  • After the Bobcats scored with 11:07 remaining in the quarter, the Crusaders closed the quarter with the final eight goals of the quarter.
  • Hannah Hizey scored two goals in the quarter along with Adamo and Katelyn Miller.
  • The Bobcats scored the opening goal of the second quarter and the Abbey responded with six straight goals to take an 18-2 lead into halftime.
  • Triniti Cassidy and Emma Pherson both finished with three goals and three assists and had five draw controls each.
  • Belmont Abbey had 11 different players score a goal and eight finish with at least one assist.
  • The Crusaders had 11 caused turnovers from 10 different players.
  • The Abbey had 25 ground balls led by five from Chaffin and four from Miller.
  • Summer Eddinger finished with two saves on the day.
