GASTONIA, N.C. -- Third-seeded Belmont Abbey won a pair of matches in improbable fashion Saturday to clinch a Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Conference Women's Bowling Championship berth for the second straight year, sending the No. 2 and 4 seeds into the loser's bracket.

Trailing No. 2 Lincoln Memorial 3-1 in its first match of the day, the Crusaders won three straight games, highlighted by a 181-156 victory in the decider. The hot streak continued into the winner's bracket final against No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan as the Crusaders rolled swept four straight games, including two over 200. In the clincher with the pressure on, Laney Sasso got a 9-spare in the seventh frame, Asah Glover got a 9-spare in the eighth and Aubrey Lloyd struck in the ninth. Canan Bademci rolled a first-ball strike in the 10th to seal the win.

The final round against the Walsh-Kentucky Wesleyan winner starts at 8 a.m. at George Pappas Liberty Lanes in Gastonia. The teams will participate in a Mega-Match (two out of three - traditional, five Baker total pinfall and standard Baker match), followed by an additional standard Baker match if necessary.
