Carroll Tallies Five-Point Game Against Mount Olive

BELMONT, N.C.— Hailey Carroll finished with five points for the third straight game as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team took on Mount Olive Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

She finished with three goals and two assists but it was the Trojans who came away with the 11-9 victory in a matchup of the two unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play. Additionally, Wednesday's contest was a re-match of last season's conference championship game.

With Wednesday's result, Belmont Abbey is now 7-5 overall, 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Mount Olive improves to 6-0, 3-1 in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Crusaders and Trojans went back and forth scoring the first two goals with Emma Pherson and Haley Adamo accounting for the first two goals for The Abbey.
  • Mount Olive scored the next three goals before Kami Sauceda added a goal with 11:03 remaining in the half.
  • The Trojans led 6-3 but Belmont Abbey scored two goals in the final minute to get back within a goal entering halftime.
  • Katelyn Miller and Carroll accounted for all four goals of the second half for the Crusaders.
  • Mount Olive outshot Belmont Abbey 35-18 for the game.
  • The Crusaders held an 11-10 advantage in draw controls.
  • Belmont Abbey accounted for 11 caused turnovers from nine different players.
  • Summer Eddinger made 11 saves in goal and finished with seven ground balls.
