BELMONT, N.C. -- Sydney Pon homered twice and Adison Yoder picked up wins as both a reliever and a starter, as Belmont Abbey swept a softball doubleheader from Fayetteville State 10-3 and 6-5 Saturday afternoon at Crusader Field.

With the wins, the Crusaders improve to 7-4, while the Broncos fall to 5-7.

THE OPENER

• Pon and Ava Elkins each had two hits, helping The Abbey reach 10 as a team.
• The Crusaders struck for four runs in the first highlighted by Pon's two run shot to left center, then put the game away with a five-run sixth.
• In that frame, Mackenzie Allison drove in two with a bases-loaded double. Dorothy Wunderlich followed with a infield single before Marlie Stillwell delivered a single with the bases loaded to score the final two runs. 
• Yoder came in with a 5-3 lead in the fourth, retiring all 13 batters she faced. She struck out one to improve to 3-3.

THE NIGHTCAP

• Hallie Mele went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Casey Laing had two hits, including a solo home run in the bottom of the second.
• Bailey Presley hit a two-run home run in the third and Pon hit her second round-tripper of the day in the fourth.
• Yoder earned the complete-game victory to improve to 4-3.

• Belmont Abbey wraps up a six-game homestand against Mars Hill on Tuesday.
