Emma Pherson added three goals, leading Belmont Abbey to a 15-4 victory over Chowan Saturday in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action. The contest served as Senior Day for six Crusader seniors -- Carroll, Pherson,
Molly Ridler,
Analeigh Page,
Hannah Hendrickson and
Meghan Carroll.
With the win, The Abbey improves to 7-4 overall and 5-0 in league play, while the Hawks fall to 4-3, 1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kacey Kubarewicz and Haley Adamo added two goals each, while Riley McCarthy and Kami Sauceda rounded out the scoring.
- Faith Piser dished out two assists with Pherson, Reilly McCarthy, Kubarewicz and Sauceda each registering one.
- The Crusaders outshot Chowan 41-11 including 30-7 on goal. The Abbey also gained 34 ground ball and caused 18 of the Hawks' 34 turnovers. The hosts won 18 of 22 draw controls, led by Pherson with six.
- Adamo gained six ground balls, while Pherson added five.
- Belmont Abbey played three goalies with Summer Eddinger starting and playing just over a quarter. Ella Carlino logged a shade over 30 minutes in two stints, while Keira Cronin totalled 10:19 of playing time.
- Eddinger improved to 7-4 with the win.
