CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Orlando Descartes broke the school high jump record for the second time in as many meets and 14 Conference Carolinas Championship qualifying standards were met, highlighting Belmont Abbey's participation Friday at the 49ers Classic, hosted by UNC Charlotte.

Descartes jumped 2.05m (6'-8¾") to place second in the A group competition. Two weeks ago, in the season opener, he posted a mark of 2.00m.
