CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Haley Kells and Caydence Lindsey got an early start to the 2024 49 Classic Thursday, competing  in the heptathlon a day before the traditional meet schedule begins.

Kells, who ranks second all-time in the the event in school history, stands 12th with three events remaining. Lyndsey, a freshman, stands 22nd in her first collegiate heptathlon.

The competition resumes at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning, while the remainder of the team begins action with field events at 11 a.m.
