BELMONT, N.C. — Hailey Carroll tallied a career-best four goals and added an assist as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team earned a 19-9 victory over Barton Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Carroll had a five-point game for the third time this season as the Crusaders outscored Barton 7-0 in the fourth quarter and 9-1 in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Emma Pherson earned hat tricks for The Abbey while
Katelyn Miller had a five-point game as well with two goals and three assists on the afternoon.
The victory improves Belmont Abbey to 6-4 overall, 4-0 in Conference Carolinas play. Barton is now 2-6 overall, 0-1 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey got off to a fast start with three goals in the first three minutes from Abbey McCarthy, Grace Ridge and Kacey Kubarewicz.
- Barton answered with three straight goals of its own before Hannah Hizey scored her goal after causing a turnover to give the Abbey the lead late in the first quarter.
- Carroll scored two of her four goals in the second quarter.
- The second quarter saw both teams go back and forth for goals but Cassidy's goal late in the first half gave the Crusaders a two-goal cushion at halftime.
- Barton scored the first goal in the third quarter but it would be the last Bulldogs goal of the afternoon as Belmont Abbey scored nine unanswered to finish the game out.
- Summer Eddinger finished with 11 saves in goal for The Abbey. She also had a pair of caused turnovers and a team-best four ground balls.
- The Crusaders out-shot Barton 38-23 and had a 20-11 advantage in draw controls.
- Ridge had a game-high six draw controls followed by Kubarewicz with five and four from Pherson.

- The Crusaders' three-game home stand continues with another Conference Carolinas contest against Chowan at noon Saturday from Alumni Field.
- Saturday will be Senior Day as six seniors will be honored prior to Saturday's contest.
