FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- Abbey McCarthy and Haley Adamo each scored twice during a decisive third quarter, lifting Belmont Abbey to a 15-14 victory over Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon. McCarthy broke an 8-8 tie with a pair of goals -- the second with a woman-down -- helping the Crusaders surge ahead with a 5-2 advantage in the period.

The Crusaders improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Lions fall to 5-2, 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Adamo led The Abbey in scoring with four goals, while McCarthy finished with three goals.
• Hailey Carroll struck twice and had an assist for three points, while Triniti Cassidy, Emma Pherson, Reilly McCarthy, Kacey Kubarewicz, Grace Ridge and Katelyn Miller each added a goal.
• Cassidy led The Abbey with two ground balls, while  Summer Eddinger caused three turnovers.
• Eddinger made 10 saves in goal to improve to 4-2 on the season.
