MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — Three Belmont Abbey field hockey student-athletes were recognized as Division II Scholars of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Monday by the organization.

Isabella Hite, Grace Hudson and Sarah Schumacher were the Crusaders to earn the distinction for 2023. The program recognizes the academic excellence of student-athletes who have demonstrated exceptional prowess, maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher throughout the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year.

Belmont Abbey had three honored last year as Scholars of Distinction, bringing the total up to seven in program history. The three Crusaders were also part of 18 student-athletes named to the NFHCA Academic Team last week. In total, 121 undergraduate student-athletes attained the honor, including 37 from South Atlantic Conference schools.

Two additional Division II academic awards, the NFHCA National Academic Team awards on and the National Scholar-Athlete will be announced February 21 and 26, respectively.
