AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Belmont Abbey rallied late in both games of a doubleheader Saturday to sweep a twinbill at Augusta 6-5 and 3-2.
Mackenzie Allison had three hits across both contests to lead the Crusaders, while
Adison Yoder and
Erin Gill each earned complete-game wins.
With the sweep, The Abbey closes out an eight-game season-opening road swing with a 5-3 record. The Jaguars fall to 7-6.
THE OPENER
- Trinity Wall cracked a two-run home run in the seventh inning to reverse a 5-4 deficit. Bailey Presley had walked to lead off the inning.
- The Crusaders had fallen behind 4-0 after one and saw the Jaguars break a 4-4 tie with a run in the sixth.
- Two-run home runs by Yoder and Sydney Pon reversed the early deficit in the second.
- The Crusaders tallied six hits in the game with Yoder registering two.
- In the circle, Yoder allowed five straight hits to start the game, then settled down to allow one run and one hit over the next 21 outs. She improved to 2-2 overall with two strikeouts.
THE NIGHTCAP
- Presley was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored.
- Allison also had two hits, driving in a pair in the sixth to reverse that 2-1 deficit.
- Hallie Mele had the team's other hit.
- Erin Gill improved to 1-1, allowing just two runs on eight hits. She walked one and struck out one.

- Belmont Abbey opens its 2024 home schedule on Friday.
- The Crusaders welcome Concord to campus for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
