BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Belmont Abbey swept a pair of best-of-three matches Monday, defeating host King and Chowan, to win the first-ever Conference Carolinas Developmental Women's Volleyball Championship, hosted at King. The Crusaders knocked off the Tornado 2-0 (25-10, 25-18) in the semifinals and the Hawks 2-0 (25-9, 25-20) in the title game.
The championship, which is a unique championship opportunity for developmental teams within Conference Carolinas, marked the third of the year for The Abbey, joining women's soccer and men's soccer.
Bailey Rowe was named Most Valuable Player with eight kills, 12 digs, four aces and five blocks in the two matches.
