HARTSVILLE, S.C. — Chloe Parker made four saves and
Casey Etter scored a pair of goals as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team earned a 2-0 win over Coker Thursday afternoon at the Coker Athletic Field.
Parker got the win as part of her 17th career shutout while Etter now has eight goals on the season.
Jessica Rybicki and
Grace Hines both earned assists in the victory.
The game had been moved back a day due to rescheduling across the conference following Hurricane Helene.
It is the second straight win for the Crusaders, who improved to 2-10 overall and 2-8 in South Atlantic Conference play. Coker is now 0-9 overall and in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders took two of the three shots in the first quarter and Etter got the Abbey on the board in the final minute of the frame.
- Belmont Abbey added to its lead thanks to Etter's goal just over two minutes into the second quarter.
- Parker made three of her four saves in the second quarter, including two in the final minutes of the first half.
- The defense kept the Cobras in check by holding them to just one shot in the second half.
- Belmont Abbey took 11 shots in the contest, nine on goal.
- The Crusaders had a 7-4 advantage in penalty corners.
