BELMONT, N.C. --
Katie Brookins tallied 11 kills and three other Crusaders reached double figures in digs, but Converse took a 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 26-24, 25-18) victory in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Wednesday night. The match was originally scheduled for Oct. 5, but had to be rescheduled due to the effects of Hurricane Helene in South Carolina.
With the result, The Abbey falls to 6-11 overall and 4-4 in league play, plus 0-2 in the Northwest Division. The Valkyries improve to 12-4, 6-1, 2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cailyn Myers and Lola Sultenfuss just missed double digits in kills with nine each. Myers had just one error in 19 attempts for a team-best .421 hitting percentage, while registering a team-high four blocks.
- Ella Schellenberg dished out 35 assists, while adding eight digs and two blocks.
- Tyler Case led the defensive effort with 15 digs, while adding three blocks. Mallory Swain and Riley Nickok chipping in 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
- Belmont Abbey had eight service aces, led by Nickol with three. Swain and Kyleigh Coghlan had two each, while Sultenfuss had the other.
