COLUMBIA, S.C. --
Kelly Hay broke the school record in the pole vault by 10 inches and every Belmont Abbey participant posted a qualifying standard for the Conference Carolinas Championship, capping a tremendous two-day effort at the Carolina Challenge, hosted by South Carolina.
Hay vaulted 4.56m (14'-11.50"), besting his school-record-tying mark of 14.30m (14'-01.50") from last week. It marked the fifth school record of the weekend by the men's track and field team.
Belmont Abbey returns to action next weekend at the Camel City Invitational in Winston Salem, N.C.
