BELMONT, N.C. --
Wade Jackson scored 13 of his 22 points in the second half and
Jaylon Simpson tallied a career-high by halftime, leading Belmont Abbey to a 83-70 come-from-behind win over North Greenville in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night. The Abbey had trailed by 13 points midway through the opening stanza.
With the win, BAC improves to 5-10 overall and 4-2 in league play, while the visitors fall to 5-7, 2-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jackson hit seven field goals, including four three-points, while also adding a team-high seven assists and four rebounds.
- Simpson finished with 15 points, including 14 in the opening 20 minutes. His previous career-best was 13 against Converse last month (12/13/23). His four threes were also the most in his career.
- Mason Taylor (14) and Jacori Owens (12) also reached double figures in scoring.
- Taylor grabbed a season-best nine rebounds. The Abbey held a 39-37 advantage on the boards.
- The teams combined for just 13 turnovers: Belmont Abbey 8, North Greenville 5
- Lolo Francis and Jalen Rivens made their first appearances of the season. Rivens was added to the roster from the developmental team earlier in the day.
- Down 19-6 and then 21-8, the hosts went on a 21-8 run to even the score at 29. The Crusaders tallied the final five points of the half for a 38-33 lead at the break.
