2023-24 Belmont Abbey Women's Basketball Schedule

BELMONT, N.C. —
Thirteen home games and matchups against several regionally ranked opponents highlight the 2023-2024 women's basketball schedule, head coach Kim Lusk announced Tuesday. Lusk is entering her second season leading the Crusaders. The team finished 23-5 and clinched the outright Conference Carolinas regular season title.

The Crusaders open the season by hosting the SAC Conference Carolinas Challenge November 10 and 11 against Mars Hill and Emory & Henry, respectively. The Abbey will also head on the road to Florida Thanksgiving weekend as the Crusaders will face Rollins (Nov. 24) and Florida Southern (Nov. 25).

Additionally, Belmont Abbey will face tests from USC Aiken, Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne, all of whom participated in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The Crusaders will also face Anderson and Carson-Newman, both of whom were regionally ranked at different points throughout last season.

A revamped Conference Carolinas schedule has The Abbey opening conference play at home December 2 against Barton.

"Our core group of returners will allow us to continue to build off last season's success," Lusk said. "We are excited about the addition of our eight freshmen and one transfer, which will give us some much needed depth. We are excited to play a competitive schedule including a few of the region's top teams."

The Crusaders will host UNC Pembroke January 13 in a rematch of last year's Conference Carolinas championship game and will close the regular season February 28 at Francis Marion.

New for the 2023-24 season, the league has been split into three divisions with Belmont Abbey competing against King, Lees-McRae and Converse in the Northwest Division. Teams play home-and-home within the division and will play each school in the conference at least once.

The Conference tournament features 12 teams with seeding being determined using the KPI rating. The opening rounds will take place March 3 and 4 on campus sites with the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game taking place March 8-10 at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the Wofford College campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
