FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 5 seeded Belmont Abbey women's tennis team opened its 2023 Conference Carolinas Tournament run on a good note thanks to a 4-1 quarterfinal win over No. 5 seed Barton Friday afternoon at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.
The Crusaders (19-10 overall) overall took two out of three doubles matches with
Alexis Burkhalter and
Elliott Peterson providing the clinching point for The Abbey while
Elizabeth Vollmin clinched the match in singles play.
Barton finishes its season with an 11-11 record.
The Crusaders advance to play top-seed Erskine in the semifinals Saturday at 8 a.m. The start of the semifinals was moved up due to inclement weather forecasted.

Prior to the beginning of the quarterfinals,
Frankee Hendricks and
Kayla Vaughan were presented with a plaque after being named second and third-team all-conference, respectively, earlier this week.
