FLORENCE, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the No. 4 seed Crusaders faced off against top-seed Erskine in the Conference Carolinas Tournament at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center. The Flying Fleet came away with the 4-1 win over the Crusaders.
The start of the match had been pushed back from a scheduled start of 10 a.m. due to inclement weather.
Erskine earned the doubles point by taking two of the three matches and won three out of the four completed singles matches to advance.
Alexis Burkhalter led the way for The Abbey with two wins Saturday first in doubles play teaming up with
Paola Socarras that was later followed by a win in No. 5 singles.
Belmont Abbey finishes its season at 19-11 while Erskine is now 14-5 and advances to the title match on Sunday against either Lees-McRae or Mount Olive.
