GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Belmont Abbey's
Mario Lacy, Jr., and
Mason Taylor have been named All-Conference Carolinas for the 2022-23 men's basketball season, the league office announced today. Lacy was a second-team selection, while Taylor earned third-team honors in voting by the 13 head coaches.
Lacy becomes a two-time selection after earning a third-team choice a year ago. He averages 12.7 points and a team-high 8.7 rebounds as the only Crusader to start every game. The Cleveland, Ohio, native shot 65.1 percent from the field, registering seven double-doubles during the campaign.
Taylor stands second on the team in scoring with a 15.0 points-per-game average. He topped double figures in scoring a team-best 23 times, leading the team on nine occasions. A native of Grandview, Mo., Taylor grabbed 5.8 rebounds and dished out 2.2 per contest.
Belmont Abbey opens play in the Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Tournament Friday evening at 6 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C, The fourth-seeded Crusaders face No. 8 Mount Olive in quarterfinal action.
