Carlino, D'Andrea Share Scoring Duties against Embry-Riddle

BELMONT, N.C. -- Olivia Carlino and Riley D'Andrea scored five goals each, but a last-second attempt to tie was thwarted by 17th-ranked Embry-Riddle in an 11-10 victory over Belmont Abbey in women's lacrosse action Saturday. 

Carlino had closed the margin the final tally with 1:23 remaining, but the Crusaders forced a turnover shortly after losing the draw control. With 16 seconds remaining, as the ball was sent into the circle, the centering pass was knocked loose and the Eagles recovered.

With the setback, The Abbey falls to 4-4 overall, while ERAU improves to 8-1 with its eighth straight win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both Carlino and D'Andrea added an assist for six points in the contest. The combined for 19 of the Crusaders' 27 shot attempts.
  • Kate Roberts and Haley Carroll also tallied assists.
  • Four players -- Lexi Helms, Maggie Stocking, Carlino and Carroll -- led The Abbey with three ground balls each.
  • Freshman Summer Eddinger, making her first collegiate start, made eight saves, but fell to 0-2 with the loss.
