CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Thomas Thierfelder and Christopher Duarte met the Conference Carolinas Championship quaifying standards for their events Saturday, highlighting Belmont Abbey's participation at the 49er Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte.

Thierfelder, who finished third in the 800 at league's indoor championship in February, ran a time of 1:56.75 to place 15th overall. Duarte, in his first collegiate outdoor meet of the season, pole-vaulted 3.85 meters (12'-7.5") to finish 14th in the final standings.

The Crusaders return to action next weekend at two different meets. Some members of the team will compete at the Winthrop Invitational, while others will be at the Montreat College Open.
