BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey placed five players in double figures, but a hot-shooting Lees-McRae team posted a 101-92 victory over the Crusaders in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 17-10 overall and 13-6 in league play, while the Bobcats improve to 12-15, 8-11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wade Jackson tallied 23 points, while Mason Taylor added 18.
- KJ Garrett went for 15 with seven assists, while Mario Lacy, Jr., scored 12 points and added four rebounds.
- Charles rounded out the double figure-scorers with five rebounds and four assists.
- The Crusaders shot 50.7 percent overall, but Lees-McRae connected at at 58.1 percent clip.

- Belmont Abbey closed out the regular season at conference leader UNC Pembroke on Wednesday.
- The Crusaders need either a win or Converse loss to secure a berth in Spartanburg March 3 as the No. 4 seed. If neither happens, The Abbey is the No. 5 seed and will host a second-round game on February 27.
