BELMONT, N.C. --
Mason Taylor and
Wade Jackson both topped 20 points, but a hot-shooting Anderson team earned an 86-70 victory over Belmont Abbey in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Trojans topped 50 percent in both halves, finishing the contest at 53.3 percent.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 1-7 overall, while Anderson improves to 5-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Taylor tallied 21 points with Jackson adding 20, marking the first time a pair of Crusaders topped 20 this season.
- Kyle Frazier also reached double figures, canning four triples for 12 points.
- Taylor grabbed a team-best five rebounds, while Frazier was the assist leader with three.
- After connecting on 44.8 percent from the field in the opening period, The Abbey cooled to 34.6 percent after intermission. The final percentage was 40.0 percent, athough it included 11 three-pointers, the second-highest total of the season.
- Garrett Denbow led all scorers with 34 points, hitting 14 of 24 attempts from the field. He also grabbed nine boards.
