BELMONT, N.C. – Xaveam Van Wijk won matches in doubles and singles play to help the Belmont Abbey men's tennis team earn a 4-3 victory over Mount Olive Saturday at the Reidy Tennis Center.
Van Wijk teamed up with
Nicholas Cary in No. 1 doubles with a 7-6 victory and the clinching point in singles play with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Armando Ferreira. The win moved Belmont Abbey to a 7-0 record in Conference Carolinas play. The team is 17-16 overall.
The Crusaders also swept the three doubles matches with
Nelson Stafford also earning two wins on the day and
Kent Shiell winning in No. 3 singles.
Mount Olive is now 8-4 overall, 4-2 in the conference.
