Seniors Close Out Regular Season with 23-4 Win

BELMONT, N.C. -- Emma Pherson scored five goals and Riley D'Andrea and Olivia Carlino added three each as Belmont Abbey closed out the regular season with a 23-4 victory in Conference Carolinas women's lacross action Saturday.

The Crusaders (10-7, 8-1) enter the league tournament as the No. 2 seed, earning a bye into the semifinals Thursday afternoon in Tigerville, S.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Crusaders led 10-2 after the first quarter and 14-2 at halftime.
  • Mackenzie Kaderabak, Christina Fabrizio, Kate Roberts, Jenn Smith and Kathyn Monk each tallied a pair of goals.
  • Kaderabek added five assists for a team-high seven points.
  • Pherson won six draw controls, while Roberts tallied four.
  • Michelle Guppy and Becca Creekmore split time in goal. Guppy had one saves and two goals against in the first 30 minutes, while Creekmore registered two saves with two goals against in the second.
  • Five seniors were honored in a pregame ceremony: Kaderabek, Smith, Michelle Leahy, Mallie Eberhardt and Ella Grace Bodie.
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders face either Barton or Southern Wesleyan in Thursday's semifinal.
  • The Abbey defeated both teams during the regular season.
