BELMONT, N.C. -- Every available player on the roster saw action Tuesday afternoon as Belmont Abbey swept its final non-conference doubleheader of the season, defeating Allen 22-0 and 21-0 at Crusader Field. Both games took just five innings to complete.
With the wins, the Crusaders improve to 28-11 overall, the second-highest win total in school history. The Yellow Jackets fall to 2-20.
THE OPENER
- Belmont Abbey sent 18 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first, scoring 14 runs.
- Mackenzie Sprinkle, Hallie Mele and Giovanna Rodriguez each had two of the Crusaders' 12 hits.
- Payton Whitley had a three-run home run in the bottom of the first., while Marlie Stilwell had a two-run single and walked to bring in another run.
- Abigail Miralja improved to 1-1 with the win. She pitched three shutout innings in relief, striking out seven against two hits.
THE NIGHTCAP
- Cameron Cooper and Whitley each had grand slams during a 10-run first inning.
- Stilwell also hit her first career home run, a grand slam in the third inning. She finished the day with a career-high five RBIs.
- Fields won her first career decision, with three shutout innings of relief. She allowed just two hits while striking out four.

- Belmont Abbey wraps up the regular season with a pair of home doubleheaders this weekend.
