SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's tennis team picked up a key Conference Carolinas road victory by defeating Converse 5-2 Wednesday.
The Crusaders got off to a good start with the No. 1 doubles team of
Kayla Vaughan and
Lily Aranyos along with the No. 3 team in
Paola Socarras and
Daniella Galeano both earning wins to earn the doubles point.
Belmont Abbey kept the strong play going with four victories in singles play starting with
Elliott Peterson winning 6-2, 6-2 in No. 3 singles over Luiza Estrada. Socarras earned her second win of the day with a 7-5, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles and
Laura Seib's 6-2, 6-0 win over Brooke Benefield clinched the match for the Crusaders. Aranyos closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-0, win in No. 6 singles over Kelsey White.
The Crusaders improved to 11-14 overall and 5-3 in Conference Carolinas play. The Valkyries are 7-9 overall, 4-4 in the conference.

- The Crusaders are off for an extended Easter break and return to the court for a doubleheader against King at noon and Methodist University at 3 p.m.
- Tuesday's matches will be the final home regular season matches for The Abbey.
