Seniors Celebrated Before Battle with Queens

BELMONT, N.C. -- Seven Belmont Abbey seniors were celebrated before the men's volleyball match, but Queens spoiled the party with a 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-27, 15-9) victory over the Crusaders in non-conference action Friday night. Senior Andrew Kohut tallied 18 kills, while classmate Riley Mulkey added 10 with a .529 hitting percentage.

The Crusaders fall to 14-12 overall, while the Royals improve to 12-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The match featured 38 tied and 13 lead changes through five sets.
  • The Crusaders hit .132 as a team, but saw Queens counter at .267.
  • Jack Walsh and Zach Cramer shared the setting duties by set, registering 19 and 17 assists, respectively.
  • Kohut had five of the team's nine service aces. Senior Jake Somers added three and a team-best nine digs.
  • The Crusaders had 9.5 total blocks with senior Kyle Ferguson getting six. Kohut finished with four block assists.
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders end a busy week of action with a crucial Conference Carolinas match tomorrow at North Greenville.
  • It will be the third match in as many days and the fourth match since Tuesday.
