Four Crusaders Score in Double Figures Against FMU

Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Brittany Autry scored a game-high 25 points, but the no. 3 seed Belmont Abbey Women's Basketball team lost a 73-69 decision to no. 7 seed Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas semifinal matchup this evening.  The Crusaders have a 19-9 record for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Abbey jumped out to an early 13-3 lead capped by two free throws from Taylor Stelley.  By the end of the quarter, the Crusaders led 23-20
  • Peyton Nation scored the first six pionts of the second quarter to increase the lead to 29-20
  • The defense also played well, giving up just one field goal in a 4:25 span midway through the quarter.  At halftime BAC led 39-34
  • Stelley scored the first four Crusader points of the third.  Nation made a layup in the closing seconds of the period to keep The Abbey in front 52-50 heading into the final quarter
  • In the fourth, it was Autry scoring the first four Abbey points of the period.  The teams went back and forth, with multiple ties, including a 65-65 tie with 1:52 to play
  • Autry scored the final four Abbey points, but BAC lost the contest 73-69
  • On the night, Autry was the Crusader leader, as she finished with 25 points on 11-for-19 shooting.  She also grabbed 13 rebounds
  • Nation scored 12 points and made a pair of steals.  Stelley handed out three assists, which tied for the game's high
