BELMONT, N.C. - Three players finished with at least six points as the Belmont Abbey Women's Lacrosse team earned an 18-7 win over Barton this evening. The Abbey now stands at 6-5 on the season, with a 4-1 Conference Carolinas record. Barton is now 6-6 overall, and 4-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Riley D'Andrea scored less than a minute into the contest, and the Crusaders never looked back from there. She scored again at eh 4:05 mark on a pass from Kate Roberts to give The Abbey 4-0 lead when the opening quarter ended
- Olivia Carlino set up Mackenzie Kaderabek for a goal early in the second, then scored a goal herself to put BAC in front 6-0
- Christina Fabrizio scored twice later in the quarter, and a man-up goal by D'Andrea with two seconds left gave Belmont Abbey a 10-3 lead at halftime
- Belmont Abbey outshot the Bulldogs 17-7 in the first half
- In the third, D'Andrea again scored less than a minute into the period. Carlino scored twice in the quarter, including the final score of the period to put The Abbey in front 15-5 heading into the final quarter
- Carlino scored early in the fourth on a pass from Kaderabek. D'Andrea scored a man-up goal with 5:10 to play, and the Crusaders wrapped up the 18-7 victory
- On the day, Carlino's eight points led the Crusader offense
- D'Andrea scored six goals and handed out an assist to finish with seven points. Kaderabek had six points and won six draw controls, tying for the game-high
- The tough Crusader defense forced 12 turnovers in the contest, and did not allow a single Barton player to finish with more than one point
- Michelle Guppy made five saves in goal
