Carlino Scores Seven Goals as Abbey Beats Emmanuel 23-7

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Olivia Carlino scored seven goals to lead the Belmont Abbey Women's Lacrosse team past Emmanuel 23-7 this afternoon.  The Abbey now stands at 7-5 on the season, with a 5-1 record against conference opponents.  Emmanuel is now 6-4 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolinas play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It only took Carlino 16 seconds into the game to score the first goal.  Later in the quarter, Kate Roberts scored two goals in a row, and set up Carlino for a score, and the Crusaders held a 5-2 lead when the opening quarter ended
  • In the second, Carlino again scored in the opening minute.  Emma Pherson scored two goals in a row to put The Abbey on top 10-3.  Sophia Colantuno scored the final Crusader goal of the period, and Belmont Abbey led 12-5 at halftime
  • In the third, it took Carlino 1:08 to score the first goal of the period.  Angela Bagatta was next and Christina Fabrizio capped off the scoring in the period to put BAC in front 18-5 heading into the final quarter.  Belmont Abbey outscored the Lions 6-0 and outshot EC 11-2 in the quarter.
  • Pherson was the first Crusader to score in the first.  Carlino found the back of the net in the final two minutes to help The Abbey wrap up the 23-7 win
  • On the day, Carlino was the Crusaders' offensive leader, with seven goals and two assists
  • Michelle Guppy made 10 saves in goal
