CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sean Johnson extended his hitting streak to 10 games for the Belmont Abbey baseball team as it faced Queens during a mid-week contest Tuesday at Tuckaseegee Fields.
Johnson hit his team-leading 11th home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning and
Zach Aehlert finished with a team-high three hits for the Crusaders but it was the Royals who came away with a 12-5 victory.
Belmont Abbey is now 20-12 on the season while Queens is now 18-14.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, Belmont Abbey got on the board in the top of the second inning with a solo home run by
Ben Gobbel.
Aehlert's first hit of the game was a leadoff single in the top of the fifth inning.
The Crusaders rallied to tied the game with three runs in the sixth starting with Johnson's home run.
Kale Rhame and Aehlert hit consecutive RBI doubles in the same inning to pull even at 4-4.
Brennan Martin hit his sixth home run of the season with a solo home run in the ninth inning.
Gobbel finished with two hits on the day for The Abbey.
