Mackenzie Kaderabek scored six goals and the Belmont Abbey Women's Lacrosse team earned a 20-8 victory at Lees-McRae this afternoon. With the win, The Abbey improves to 5-5 on the season, including a 3-1 Conference Carolinas record. LMC is now 0-10 on the year, with an 0-3 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jenn Smith scored the first goal of the day, and the Crusaders never looked back after that. She scored again at the 3:20 mark. Then Kaderabek scored twice in the final three minutes to put The Abbey in front 6-0 when the first quarter ended
- Reilly McCarthy got the scoring started for The Abbey in the second. Kaderabek again scored the final Crusader goal in the period, and Belmont Abbey held a 10-3 lead at halftime
- Kaderabek scored a man-up goal to start the third for BAC. She scored again at the 3:26 mark, before setting up Christina Fabrizio for a score
- Kacey Kubarewicz found the back of the net in the final 30 seconds give Belmont Abbey a 17-5 lead heading into the final period
- In the fourth, Riley D'Andrea got the scoring started for the Crusaders. Later in the period, she set up Olivia Carlino for a score. Kaderabel scored a man-up goal to wrap up the 20-8 Abbey win
- On the day, Kaderabek's six goals led the Crusaders. She also handed out an assist
- D'Andrea also finished with seven points, as she scored five goals and dished out two assists
- Carlino caused four turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Michelle Guppy made five saves in goal
- As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae41-19. The defense forced 26 Bobcat turnovers
