Abby Craver hit a homerun and tossed six strikeouts on the day, but the Belmont Abbey Softball team lost at Barton today by scores of 3-2 and 8-4. The Crusaders are now 14-7 on the season, with a 1-3 Conference Carolinas record. Barton is now 18-2 overall, and 5-0 in conference play.
THE OPENER
- Barton scored two runs in the second inning. In the fifth, Craver hit a homerun to center field
- In the sixth, Kellee Branham knocked a single to center field to bring Afton Jessee and tie the game at two
- The Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the seventh to take the contest 3-2
- Craver threw a complete game and tossed five strikeouts, while only walking one
THE NIGHTCAP
- In the second game, The Abbey scored first, as Maddie Phillips singled to center field to score Sydney Pon
- Barton scored five runs in the next two innings. The Crusaders, however, capitalized on a Barton error as well as a passed ball, scoring three runs on the two plays, to make it a 5-4 Barton lead
- The Bulldogs scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to wrap up the 8-4 win
- Pon went 2-for-3 with a run in the contest
- Alannah Browne pitched five innings and struck out three batters

Belmont Abbey will host Erskine on Tuesday, March 29. That doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m.
