MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's tennis team continued its run of strong play and earned its third straight Conference Carolinas win with a 7-0 victory at Chowan Saturday.
The Crusaders won every match against the Hawks with
Nicholas Cary,
Nelson Stafford and
Zachary Blythe recording wins in both doubles and singles play.
Cary teamed up with
Xaveam Van Wijk for a 6-2 win over the Santino Jose Sormani and Hesley Masara in No. 1 doubles and a 6-0, 6-1 win over Michael Correa in No. 4 singles.
Stafford and Blythe won 6-4 in doubles play and Stafford won 7-6, 5-4 in No. 2 singles. Blythe won by retirement in singles play.
Belmont Abbey is now 11-15 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Chowan is 2-6, 0-3.

- The Crusaders return home and continue Conference Carolinas play with a match against North Greenville at 2 p.m. April 1 at the Reidy Tennis Center.
- Other members of the team will play at Johnson C. Smith at 4 p.m. April 1. The match was previously rescheduled from March 8 due to weather.
