WILSON, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's team went east to face Barton in the team's first Conference Carolinas road match of the season Friday. The Crusaders won a doubles matches and a pair of singles matches but it was the Bulldogs who came away with the 5-2 victory.
Paola Socarras and
Daniella Galeano earned a 6-3 doubles victory over the team of Osenyonye Nwokolo and Luciana Prudencio.
Kayla Vaughan and
Carlie Davis also earned victories in singles play. Vaughan defeated Barton's Eimear Maher, 6-3, 6-3, while Davis defeated Grace McCartney 6-0, 6-1.
The Abbey is now 5-13 overall, 0-2 in the conference while Barton is 4-8 and 1-1.
