D’Andrea Earns Four Points Against Mount Olive

BELMONT, N.C. – Riley D'Andrea scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team but it was Mount Olive who came away with a 16-9 victory in a Conference Carolinas game Thursday at Alumni Field.
 
The Abbey is now 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference while Mount Olive is 4-3 and 2-0, respectively.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Trojans scored the first goal of the game, the Crusaders pulled even in the first period thanks to a goal from Christina Fabrizio with 11:40 left the in the first quarter off an assist from D'Andrea. Mount Olive led 5-1 at the end of the quarter.
  • D'Andrea accounted for the next two goals for The Abbey, scoring at the 9:18 and 5:12 marks of the second quarter, respectively.
  • The Crusaders trailed 12-3 in the third quarter but responded with a run of three straight goals from Mackenzie Kaderabak, Reilly McCarthy and Fabrizio.
  • Angela Bagatta was credited with the assist on the second Fabrizio goal.
  • Kaderabak added a second goal with 9:09 left in the fourth quarter for The Abbey.
  • Emma Pherson followed that with a goal in a man-up situation with 8:25 to go.
  • D'Andrea's final goal came in a man-down situation with 3:38 remaining in the contest.
  • Becca Creekmore finished with five saves for The Abbey.
  • Kaderabak led the Crusaders by winning a team-best four draw controls.
 
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders will play their first Conference Carolinas road game against Converse at 7 p.m. March 23.
