Abbey Competes with #5 West Chester

BELMONT, N.C. - Riley D'Andrea finished with three points, but the Belmont Abbey Women's Lacrosse team lost 18-6 to #5-ranked West Chester this afternoon.  The Abbey moves to 3-4 on the season.  The Golden Rams improve to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mackenzie Kaderabek scored the first Crusader goal of the day, late in the first quarter.  WCU led 9-1 when the opening quarter ended
  • The Golden Rams added five more goals in the second, to take a 14-1 lead at halftime
  • The Abbey defense played much better in the third, holding West Chester to just seven shots.  The Abbey also forced five turnovers in the period, which ended with a 16-1 WCU lead
  • The Crusader offense came alive in the fourth, starting with a goal by Jenn Smith at the 12:28 mark.  Kaderabek scored just over a minute later
  • D'Andrea scored the next two goals to make it a 16-5 game.  Christina Fabrizio capped off the scoring, and West Chester took the contest 18-6
  • On the day, Kaderabek scored twice for The Abbey, and won a team-high five draw controls
  • D'Andera finished with two goals and an assist
  • Becca Creekmore made six saves in goal
UP NEXT

Belmont Abbey will return to conference action on Thursday, March 17 with a 5 p.m. matchup against Mount Olive.
