CENTRAL, S.C. --
Cate Schieber was one of four players in double figures with 18 points and Belmont Abbey hit 10 three-pointers, leading the Crusaders to a 63-41 victory over Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action Wednesday night.
The three-point total was a season high for The Abbey (3-3, 2-0), which previous had a best of seven vs. Newberry. The Warriors fall to 0-7, 0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schieber took all of her shots from behind the arc, hitting 6-of-16. She also made a team-best three steals.
- Catherine Henderschott scored 14 points and added six rebounds and three steals, while Taylor Stelley added 11 points, five boards and three assists.
- Katie Bischoping rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, hitting all five shot attempts. She also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
- Belmont Abbey hit 40.0 percent (10 of 25) from three-point range and 37.3 percent (25 of 67) overall, while hoilding the Warriors to 34.0 percent (16 of 47) overall.
- Belmont Abbey held a 42-36 rebounding edge and forced 19 turnovers.
- The Crusaders led by only three at the half, 27-24, but outscored SWU 16-7 in the third and 20-10 in the fourth quarter.
