CENTRAL, S.C. - Jo Snow scored 22 points and the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team cruised to a 82-55 victory at Southern Wesleyan this evening.  With the win, The Abbey improves to 11-6 on the season, with a 9-4 conference record.  SWU is now 2-12 overall, and 2-9 in Conference Carolinas play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams kept it close throughout the first quarter, with multiple ties, and Belmont Abbey led 14-12 at the end of the period
  • The second quarter was all Abbey.  After an early Warriors basket, the Crusaders went on a 17-0 run, making it a 34-14 Abbey lead.  Taylor Stelley scored six points during the stretch
  • Later in the period, Brittany Autry scored five straight to build the BAC lead to 39-17.  The Abbey held a 46-22 lead at halftime
  • In the third, it was Kelli Thomas getting the Crusader scoring started.  A 9-0 run midway through the quarter made it a 60-28 Abbey lead.  Thomas scored the final Crusader basket of the quarter and BAC held a 66-43 lead heading into the final period
  • In the fourth, the Belmont Abbey defense was very strong, not giving up a single point in the first four and a half minutes of the quarter.  A layup by Elfrieda Olsson gave the Crusaders a 33-point lead, their largest of the night.  The Abbey finished with an 82-55 win
  • On the night, Snow was the Crusader leader, with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including 6-for-7 from 3-point range
