BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey wrestling team returned to the mat with several wrestlers competing at the Tuesday Throwdown at the Wheeler Center.

The Crusaders won 11 bouts, including two victories by Marcus Harnarain in the 285-pound weight class. The freshman defeated Chad Metikosh of UNC Pembroke in an 8-2 decision and followed that with a victory over Malcolm Grey of UNC Pembroke by an identical result.

Jacob Norriss and Jake Dodson both recorded victories in their respective bouts at 157 while at 165, Robert Ireland earned a pin 39 seconds into his bout to win.

Will Cline (141) and Paul Jakub (165) also earned pins to win their respective bouts. At 174, David Wilson defeated Tkaii Gaither of UNC Pembroke via a 12-1 major decision and Elijah Boyd (133) won an 8-3 decision over JP Gamez of Newberry.

Jordan Schollsman (149) and Max Buico (133) won their respective bouts via injury default.
