BELMONT, N.C. Casey Etter extended her goal streak to four straight games and
Chloe Parker set the school shutout record as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team defeated Mount Olive 2-0 Wednesday at Alumni Field in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas play. The Crusaders moved to 6-2 overall, 4-1 in league play. The Trojans fell to 3-5, 3-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Etter tallied her first goal of the game with 11:14 remaining in the second quarter off of a penalty stroke. It was the fifth goal of the season for the freshman.
- It was also the third successful penalty stroke goal in program history and second during the 2021 season. Isabella Grasso scored on a penalty stroke in the Sept. 10 game at Mercyhurst.
- Belmont Abbey held an 10-8 advantage in shots over Mount Olive, including a season-high six from Etter.
- Etter scored her second goal off the game with 1:49 left in the third quarter.
- The goal came shortly after one of three penalty corners for the Crusaders in the period.
- Chloe Parker closed out her fourth shutout of the season with three saves in the fourth quarter.
- Parker's shutout surpasses the previous record of three held by Paige Hinds during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
