Parry Goal Enough for Crusaders to Shutout Converse

Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Logan Parry scored the lone goal in the 65th minute to help the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout over Converse this evening.  With the win, The Abbey improves to 3-1-2 on the year.  Converse is now 2-7-1 overall, with a 1-6-0 conference mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team taking a shot in the first 10 minutes
  • In the 11th minute, Corrine Shovlain took the first shot of the day
  • Later in the half, Belmont Abbey took five shots in a row, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.  The Crusader defense had very strong half, only giving up two Converse shots
  • Goose Andrews took the first shot of the second half, in just the 50th minute
  • In the 65th minute, Parry got The Abbey on the board for the 1-0 lead, off a pass from Alexis Louis
  • The defense continued to limit the Valkyries' scoring opportunities and wrapped up the 1-0 victory
  • On the night, the Crusaders outshot the Valkryies 13-6.  Goose Andrews took the most shots, with three
  • Lauryn Harding made three saves in goal
UP NEXT

Belmont Abbey will conclude its regular season on Friday, April 9 as the team will take on Southern Wesleyan at 7 p.m.  The team will celebrate Senior Night that night.
