MURFREESBORO, N.C. -
Jenn Smith led a quartet of Abbey players to score at least four goals this afternoon, as the women's lacrosse team won 23-4 at Chowan this afternoon. With the win, The Abbey improves to 10-1 on the season, and 7-0 in Conference Carolinas play. The team has also clinched a first-round bye in the Conference Carolinas tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Smith only needed 22 seconds into the game to put The Abbey on the board. She scored again just 23 seconds later. The Crusaders never trailed in the contest
- Kylie Eastman set up scores for three teammates in a row to give BAC a 5-0 lead less than five minutes into the game
- Later in the period, Angelina Perrone scored two goals in a span of two and a half minutes to make it a 10-1 Abbey lead. Eastman then scored two goals in a row
- Lexi Wright found the back of the net in the final minute of the period to give BAC a 14-1 lead at halftime
- Eastman opened up the second half with a man-up goal, before Riley D'Andrea scored two goals in a row
- Eva Stahlschmidt assisted on four straight goals before a man-up goal by Alyssa Pearson capped off the scoring and the 23-4 Abbey win
- On the day, Smith scored the most goals for the Abbey, with five. D'Andrea, Eastman, and Perrone, each scored four
- Perrone won five draw controls, picked up seven ground balls, and caused four Chowan turnovers
- As a team, Belmont Abbey outshot Chowan 42-11
