Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team swept the doubleheader against Southern Wesleyan to open up the Conference Carolinas weekend series. The Crusaders improve to 8-4 on the year with a 7-3 conference record. SWU moves to 2-9 on the year with a 2-8 league record.
Game One
Belmont Abbey 4, Southern Wesleyan 0
  • Jason White earned his third win of the year pitching a compete seven innings not allowing any runs on three hits striking out six.
  • Adam Overcash and Matty Bapst both went 2-for-3 in the game.
  • Overcash, Bapst, and Ben Gobbel all drove in a run.
  • Overchash hit his second home run of the season.
Game Two
Belmont Abbey 14, Southern Wesleyan 1
  • The Crusaders collected 14 hits en route to a 14 run performance.
  • Sean Johnson went 3-for-3 with three RBI.
  • Mason Dodd and Kale Rhame each had multi-hit performances.
  • Ben Ferguson and Danny Cruz both blasted home runs.
  • Sam High earned his second win of the year pitching five innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven.
  • Nick Aehlert and Ryan Giberson bot struck out a pair in their inning of relief.
