D'Andrea, Defense Help Abbey 21-7 Win at Barton

WILSON, N.C. - Riley D'Andrea scored six goals to help the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team to a 21-7 win at Barton this evening.  The win puts The Abbey at 7-1 on the year, with a 4-0 record against conference opponents.  Barton is now 4-2, with a 2-2 Conference Carolinas record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Angelina Perrone scored the first goal of the day on a free position shot, and the Crusaders never looked back from there
  • Later in the half, BAC scored six straight goals, two each by D'Andrea and Kylie Eastman, to take a commanding 8-1 lead, which also proved to be the game-winner
  • Eastman scored a goal with 14:02 remaining in the half, then assisted on another to put the Crusaders on top 13-2
  • Christina Fabrizio capped off the scoring in the half, and the Crusaders held a 15-4 lead at halftime.  BAC won 13 draw controls in the half, to Barton's six
  • D'Andrea scored three of The Abbey's first five goals in the second half, including a man-down goal
  • The stubborn Crusader defense did not give up a goal for the first 21 minutes of the period
  • Jenn Smith scored at the 4:40 mark to cap off the BAC scoring and the 21-7 victory
  • On the night, D'Andrea's six goals led the Crusaders, and tied her season-high
  • Eastman also finished with seven points, while Perrone added six.  Eastman and Perrone also won five draw controls each, tying for the team-high in the game
