ST. LOUIS, MO. – Mitch Dean earned All-American with his two wins in the first day of the NCAA DII National Tournament.
Dean captured a win in the first round with a 9-7 decision over Tiffin's Bryan LaVearn. After Colorado Mesa's Fred Green defeated Dean by an 8-5 decision, Mitch was matched up with Noah Tarr from Davis & Elkins. Dean earned an 11-3 major decision, advancing to Saturday's session.
Saturday Mitch Dean will wrestle against Braydon Huber from the University of Mary for a chance to compete for a third place finish.
Belmont Abbey's 133 lbs. wrestler, Ben Fielding, was defeated by Tyler Warner of West Liberty and Patrick Allis of Western Colorado.
