FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- Belmont Abbey opened the 2020-21 Conference Carolinas women's soccer season with a 2-0 victory at Emmanuel Friday afternoon. Emily Doty and Corrine Shovlain each found the net late in each half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Doty's shot with 49 seconds left until halftime came off a pass from Gabriela Enciso.
• The Crusaders doubled the lead with just under nine minutes to play when Shovlain beat the keeper with an assist from Tatiana Daugherty.
• Lauren Harding did not face a shot in recording the shutout.
• Belmont Abbey took eight shots in the contest, with four of those on goal.
• The Crusaders also held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
