Box Score 2 MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey split a pair of Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Tournament games on Saturday, defeating Barton 3-2 in the opening round before a heartbreaking 3-2 (17-25, 25-27, 19-25, 25-16, 15-13) loss to Mount Olive in the second round.
The results end the Crusaders' season at 10-21, while the Trojans advance to a quarterfinal matchup at Emmanuel.
THE OPENING ROUND
- Mia Samaha tallied her first career-double, topping double figures in kills for the first time, while tying her season-best of 10 digs. She also added four aces.
- Paige Rawlins also posted a double-double, her 10th of the year, with 48 assists and 13 digs.
- Baylea Botello had a career-high 13 kills, hitting .379 (13-2-29)
- Hailey Ryan added 29 digs and two aces.
THE SECOND ROUND
- Caitlyn Faber led the attack with 14 kills and a .265 hitting percentage. She also added a team-best 20 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.
- Samaha added nine kills and nine digs.
- Rawlins gained her 11th double-double with 38 assists and 10 digs.
- Hailey Ryan tallied 18 digs.
- The Crusaders hit .114 in the contest and had seven total blocks.
